NOVEMBER 2009


The Shrine Ladies met at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 10, at Presbyterian Manor in the Cunningham Center.  Members attending included:  Tommye Berryman, Jean Burrus, Ruby Elliott, Frances Estrada, Donna Hyde, Sylvia Ritchie, and Wanda Scarlott.

Several absent members were somewhat “under the weather.  Those of us present felt maybe they enjoyed Texas Days a little too much.  Anyway, we need to remember the following Ladies in our prayers:  Betty Broyles, Frances Ferguson, Wilma Hoagland, Lydia Martin, Betty Nicks, and Imogene Plemons.

We also want to wish a Happy Birthday to Lydia Martin who had a birthday October 7.

Frances Estrada has arranged for our Christmas Luncheon at the Wichita Falls Country Club.  It will be December 12 at 11:30 AM in the Ladies’ Card Room.  Last year’s luncheon was fantastic and we thank Frances for giving us the opportunity to again enjoy the great food and atmosphere.

Also discussed was the possibility of having some computer classes to teach the basics of computer usage to include such things as e-mailing and using the internet to locate information, etc.  Think about whether you would like to learn how to use the computer or improve your skill.  We can discuss at the November meeting.  If we decide to do this, we can use it as a trial run.  If we could gather enough interest, we might open lessons up to Maskat Shriners and their Ladies.  We have wireless internet as Maskat and the capability to hook a teaching computer to the big-screen television in the Oasis should we decide to proceed.  Lessons would be free.  We could ask for a donation to Maskat’s Shrine Hospital Patient Transportation fund.  It would be a good way for Shrine Ladies to sponsor a fund-raising activity.  Anyone who may be interested in lessons, please contact Donna Hyde at the Maskat office. 

Sylvia Ritchie provided delicious refreshments for our meeting.  With only seven of us at the meeting, we had lots for each of us.  Thank you, Sylvia. 

The next meeting will be Saturday, 14, at 2:00 P.M. at Cunningham Center.  If you are not a member and want to check us out, please join us at our next meeting.  We always have fun even when all we do is catch up on what everyone has been doing.
