Maskat Shrine Center took its name from a seaport on the Gulf of Oman, and was granted dispensation to organize on June 22, 1920. Our charter was granted on June 16, 1921, and Walter Cline served as Potentate both years. Not only was he our first Potentate, he was the only one to ever serve two terms. Illustrious Sir Cline would later serve as our only Imperial Officer, rising to Imperial Potentate in 1939-40.

Next Major EventIf you missed the Maskat Annual Easter Egg festivities on Saturday, April 11th, you missed a grand occasion ! With well over 200 in attendence ! This event is growing each year, and why wouldn't it.... with the superb food and the mountain of eggs for the youngsters, everyone had a super time (even the much older kids). Now, we turn our full attention to the Annual Shrine Hospitals Benefit Golf Tournament ! This event will be held on Friday, April 17th at the River Creek Golf Course, with a Super Special Calcutta Event set to roll at Maskat Shrine Center on Thursday evening the 16th at 6:30 pm. Entry forms may be picked up at the Maskat Office or by contacting Don Wright, Past Potentate, Golf Tournament Chairman, at (940) 696-2758. This Premiere Event has become a major “don't miss” activity for a great number of people from all around the area, and a marvelous opportunity for people to show their support for the Shriners' Hospitals. ALL NET PROCEEDS FROM THIS TOURNAMENT GO TO THE SHRINERS' HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN So, get out the clubs, fill out the entry form, get yourself into the action, and help us give a strong financial lifeline to our kids.... and, have a great time while you do ! Latest NewsThree brief items on our list for Latest News in this issue. TSA, the Oil Bowl, and the new addition to Maskat Shrine Center.TSA is coming the first week of June this year. If you haven't found a job to do in this massive undertaking.... get in touch with Ronnie James, PP and he'll certainly find a slot for you to fill ! EVERYONE IS NEEDED in this event ! So... get on board !! The Oil Bowl committees are now in full swing, moving toward Oil Bowl 2009 with a gusto. All nobles and ladies are encouraged to be a part of this Traditional Maskat Event. We especially need nobles to get on board with selling ads in the Oil Bowl Program ! This event will take place on Saturday, June 13th this year and, with TSA being so close to this, it is going to be a challenge for us and we'll be needing the extra efforts from a number of strong spirited Shriners and Ladies to pull this together in great Maskat style ! The new addition to Maskat Shrine Center, our new “walk in” storage and cooler area is coming along nicely and will soon make it's “debut” at Maskat. The workers are putting final touches on it as we speak and it will soon be a part of our growing Maskat facility. We have also added yet another Big Screen TV to our club facility (thanks, Mark Reed and DeeAnn) and it will be another super attraction to our great Maskat Home !! Upcoming Events |
